Age-Appropriate Safety Planning

CYP provides child-centred safety planning designed around each child or young person’s age, developmental needs, circumstances and ability to understand and communicate risk.

Working with the child and, where appropriate, their parent or caregiver, we help identify situations in which they may feel worried, frightened or unsafe; recognise trusted adults and safe places; and develop practical, realistic steps for seeking help and increasing safety.

Safety plans focus on helping children understand their options without placing responsibility on them for preventing or managing abuse. Where concerns indicate that additional safeguarding or specialist intervention is required, CYP supports appropriate referral and safeguarding pathways.
