Therapy Dog Referrals for Emotional Support & Healing

Therapy dogs can play a powerful role in the emotional recovery of survivors of domestic abuse—offering comfort, reducing anxiety, and fostering a greater sense of safety and connection. While not a service provided directly by Child and Youth Partnerships, we proudly offer referrals to trusted therapy dog programs as part of a holistic, trauma-informed care plan.

These services can support:

  • Greater independence – Survivors may find it easier to manage daily routines, medications, and restful sleep with the presence of a trained therapy dog, leading to increased confidence and autonomy.
  • Reduced stress and anxiety – The calming presence of a dog can help regulate the nervous system, reduce flashbacks, and lower the need for hyper-vigilance—supporting emotional regulation and a sense of control.
  • Improved coping skills – Survivors often feel more present and grounded with a therapy dog by their side. Over time, this companionship can support openness to healing, connection, and new forms of care.

Whether you're exploring additional emotional supports or navigating Complex PTSD, we're here to help connect you with local programs that match you with a therapy dog suited to your needs.

Ask us about a referral today. You're not alone on this path—and healing doesn’t have to happen without support.
